Off
Broadway

To the friends and fans who often ask me why
I never thought of being on "Broadway"....
I offer them this song!

"Off Broadway"

The little ladies tell me, more often than not
"We can't believe you're with us, you must have forgot."
The road to fame and fortune, oh the path to success
The future is on Broadway, perhaps to be the Best.

Oh, I must admit I've wondered,
How those colored lights would be
And the many, many people
Who'd be cheering, just for me.

Well, I'm not afraid of spotlights,
Though they blind me every time.
I'd rather choose a venue,
With some crackers, cheese and wine.

For you see, I've placed a value,
On every note I sing.
To the folks at Country Meadows(or wherever I sing)
It's the difference which I bring.

From the moment I start crooning
Those lovely Broadway tunes,
Perhaps their memories open
To a time and place in June.

The chance to kneel before one,
Whose head she could not raise
To be honored to have touched her,
With a song or hymn of Praise!

The laughter and their dancing
Mixed with soda, cake and meds,
And they know I always tell them
No fooling in the hallways, straight back to their beds.

Sure, the lights of Broadway sparkle
From a distance, so it seems
But to be up close and personal
Is what makes this time serene.

So, to me it's very simple
As one resident remarked.
"Your gift is but a blessing,
Thanks for sharing from your Heart."
